The brief
EVOLVE[26], Silicon Brighton’s flagship technology event, needed a social media campaign that would build awareness, create excitement and ultimately generate demand in the run-up to the conference.
Our role was to turn social media into more than an announcement channel. We wanted to show audiences why EVOLVE was worth attending — bringing its speakers, ideas and atmosphere to life before the doors even opened.
Across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube, the campaign focused on three core objectives: increase visibility, grow engagement and support attendance through organic social activity.

The challenge
Promoting an event like EVOLVE means selling something audiences can’t fully experience until the day itself.
We needed to build anticipation around a future event while communicating the quality of the speakers, conversations and community people could expect when they arrived.
And we needed to do it across five very different social platforms — adapting the content to suit each audience without losing a consistent EVOLVE story.
The opportunity was to move beyond simply saying “buy a ticket” and instead use content to create a sense of momentum: this is where the technology community is going to be, and these are the conversations you don’t want to miss.
Our approach
For EVOLVE[26], we built the campaign around the people, ideas and experience at the heart of the event.
Rather than relying on repetitive promotional messaging, we created a varied organic content programme designed to build awareness first, deepen interest and then increase urgency as event day approached.
1. Putting speakers and ideas front and centre
EVOLVE’s speakers gave us one of the campaign’s strongest assets: expertise.
We used speaker-led content, thought-provoking ideas and extracts from previous events to demonstrate the calibre of conversation attendees could expect.
That strategy proved particularly effective on LinkedIn, where countdown content, keynote speakers and thought-provoking event quotes became some of the campaign’s strongest performers. One LinkedIn countdown post generated 1,120 impressions and 200 interactions, while an event-day quote generated 1,118 impressions and 233 interactions.
2. Creating urgency as EVOLVE approached
As the event got closer, the content shifted from awareness towards anticipation.
Countdown messaging, speaker announcements and timely reminders gave audiences more reasons to pay attention — and made the approaching event feel increasingly tangible.
This was particularly successful on LinkedIn, where professional audiences responded strongly to the combination of expert insight and timely event updates.
3. Showing the experience, not just promoting it
Some of the campaign’s best content happened when we took audiences behind the scenes.
Setup, event-day and live content gave followers a much more authentic view of EVOLVE and created the sense that something was happening that they wanted to be part of.
Instagram became the campaign’s strongest awareness channel, generating 23.67K impressions and 700 interactions. Behind-the-scenes setup content was the highest-performing post across the entire campaign, demonstrating the value of authentic, real-time storytelling.
The standout Instagram post — showing exhibitors arriving and the event taking shape — generated 1,287 impressions and 82 interactions.
4. Giving each platform a role
Rather than treating every channel in the same way, the campaign allowed different platforms to do different jobs.
Instagram became a window into the EVOLVE experience. LinkedIn drove professional engagement and action. TikTok helped take speaker-led ideas to short-form audiences, while YouTube gave EVOLVE’s thought leadership a much longer lifespan.
In particular, previous talks and topical technology discussions performed strongly on YouTube, helping position EVOLVE as a source of valuable thinking beyond the event itself.
5. Turning social attention into action
Awareness and engagement mattered, but ultimately we wanted social audiences to take the next step.
Across the campaign, Organic Social generated 360 website sessions with a 94.4% engagement rate. LinkedIn alone drove 273 sessions, making it the third-largest individual source of website traffic overall.
And because LinkedIn traffic can be classified as Referral in GA4 — while people who discover an event on social may later return through search or direct traffic — the full influence of the campaign is likely to extend beyond directly attributed social sessions.
The results
Across just seven weeks of campaign activity, EVOLVE[26] generated:
- 68.38K impressions
- 4,783 interactions
- 271 pieces of content
- 94.4% website engagement rate from Organic Social
Audiences also grew across every social platform during the campaign.
More importantly, the content gave EVOLVE a social presence that felt like the event itself: current, intelligent, energetic and centred around its community.
LinkedIn became the standout engagement platform. Instagram delivered the greatest awareness. TikTok and YouTube extended the reach and lifespan of EVOLVE’s thought leadership. And as event day approached, behind-the-scenes and live content transformed the campaign from telling people about EVOLVE into showing them what they were missing.
The result was a social campaign that didn’t simply promote a technology conference. It built anticipation around it — and helped turn attention into highly engaged website traffic.
We absolutely love being an EVOLVE partner and can’t wait to get involved in EVOLVE[27]!
“We’ve been working with James, Mel and Rosie for the last few months now and they’ve been an absolute dream! They’ve come on as partners of EVOLVE – the largest tech conference in the South East – and I can’t recommend them highly enough for all the work they’ve done and value they’ve added. They’re so proactive and knowledgeable but also, you really feel like they are on the team with you; on your side and in your corner, which means the world when you’re just starting out on something big. I really hope they’re in it for the long haul with us as we couldn’t have done it without them!”
