When it comes to LinkedIn, there’s a question we get asked all the time: Should we be posting from our company page, or encouraging our team to post from their personal profiles?
The short answer? Both. But not in the same way, and not for the same purpose.
Here’s how to decide where to focus your energy—and how to get the best of both worlds.
Why company pages matter
Company pages are your official brand hub on LinkedIn. Think of them as your digital shopfront—essential for credibility, discoverability and consistency.
Best for:
- Sharing brand updates and company news
- Showcasing your culture, values and team
- Highlighting case studies or client wins
- Running paid campaigns (you need a company page to do this)
- Growing long-term brand awareness
But here’s the catch: Company pages often get less reach than personal profiles. That’s because LinkedIn’s algorithm prioritises content from people over brands—it’s a social network, after all.
Why personal profiles pack a punch
Personal profiles tend to get far more visibility and engagement. People connect with people, and that human element is gold on LinkedIn.
Best for:
- Thought leadership and storytelling
- Sharing behind-the-scenes insights
- Sparking conversation and showing personality
- Building relationships and trust
- Driving traffic (yep—posts from personal accounts often outperform company posts in clicks and engagement)
When your team members post authentically, they extend your brand’s reach in a way that no company page ever could.
But what happens when they leave the company? They take their contacts with them. Eeep!
So where should you focus?
In an ideal world, both.
Work them together. Use your company page for consistency and credibility. Use personal profiles to amplify, add depth and spark engagement.
How to get them working together
💬 Repurpose wisely: Turn a blog post on your company page into a personal story on a team member’s profile
📣 Tag strategically: Encourage team members to tag your company when posting—this boosts visibility for both
🔗 Cross-pollinate: Share your team’s standout posts on the company page (with their permission), or comment from the company account to give them a boost
🌱 Nurture confidence: Not everyone wants to post on LinkedIn—and that’s OK. Offer light-touch training, share post ideas, or write templates they can make their own
Final thought
Don’t pit your company page and personal profiles against each other. Instead, see them as two parts of the same puzzle—each bringing their own strengths, and working best when they work together.
