New year, new social media channel? No thank you!
With 2025 here (gulp), we know you’re likely planning how to level up your social media strategy. But before rushing to create a new TikTok account, take a step back and consider optimising the social media channels you already have! Below are a few quick wins you can do to make your social media sing (sorry!).

Check your handles for consistency
One common mistake is brands using different social media handles (otherwise known as the @ or public username) across platforms. This can make it difficult for people to find you. Take a few minutes to review your handles and ensure they’re consistent, or at least similar, across all channels. This small tweak can make a big difference in discoverability.
Pro tip: If you update your handles, don’t forget to refresh your website and any printed marketing materials with the new information.
Optimise your social media names with keywords
With social media platforms increasingly leveraging keywords, now is the perfect time to enhance your profile names. Consider adding relevant keywords that reflect your business, especially on Instagram and LinkedIn. This can help improve your visibility in search results.

Refresh your bios
An optimised biography is essential! Make sure your bios are up-to-date and clearly highlight what your business does. Challenge yourself to craft a concise yet impactful description that reflects your brand.
Check your links
While refreshing your profiles, double-check that all your links are current. If you’re using a ‘link in bio’ on Instagram, make sure it’s leading to the right place (and not an event that happened 3 months ago). And don’t forget to review the ‘About’ section on Facebook, outdated information can make your brand look inactive.
Review admin access
Businesses evolve, team members come and go, and agencies shift. If someone who had access to your accounts is no longer with you, ensure they’ve been removed as admins, especially on Facebook and LinkedIn. For other platforms, it’s wise to update your passwords at least once a year—or immediately if access changes hands.
Pro tip: Make sure you have at least two admins with control of everything, that way there should always be someone to pick up if things change.

Revamp Instagram highlights
Are your Instagram highlights outdated? It’s time for a refresh! Go through your existing highlights, update them as needed, and rethink their purpose to ensure they’re being used effectively.
By focusing on these quick fixes, you can start 2025 with a streamlined, effective social media presence – without the need to chase every new platform. Cheers to making the most of what you’ve already built!
